On Wednesday, May 13, 2015, The Anthony Cumia Show will welcome Ladd Everitt, Communications Director for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (in photo) to discuss the current state of gun control in this country. Mr. Everitt will join host, Anthony Cumia, in an open and frank conversation on the second amendment, the process of obtaining a gun in various parts of the country and the use of guns in acts of violence.
“As someone who grew up on Long Island, it will be a thrill to come home again to have this conversation with Anthony,” said Mr. Everitt. “The beauty of our democracy is that we don’t have to agree on everything. But we should always make time to hear one another out and benefit from other perspectives. I look forward to hearing what Anthony and his listeners have to say.”
Before joining the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, Mr. Everitt served as a volunteer with the D.C. Crisis Response Team, a group which offered comfort, support and referral services to victims and survivors of homicide in the District of Columbia. He also served as the volunteer president of the D.C. Chapter of the Million Mom March. Under his direction, the chapter conducted events for victims and survivors of gun violence, published letters and editorials in local and national periodicals, participated in press conferences and demonstrations calling for sensible gun laws, networked with other community groups who are interested in stemming the tide of gun violence, and authored a comprehensive resource book for victims and survivors, which was used by the Metropolitan Police Department.
